Neonatal and Early Childhood Outcomes of Twin and Singleton Infants Born Preterm
2023, Journal of PediatricsShould twin-specific growth charts be used to assess fetal growth in twin pregnancies?
2022, American Journal of Obstetrics and GynecologyCitation Excerpt :Twin pregnancies are at higher risk for fetal death when compared with singletons.103,104 This observation has been attributed primarily to complications of monochorionic twins such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and selective IUGR105–110 and to the higher risk for congenital anomalies111–114 in twin pregnancies. However, this general observation has been interjected into the argument that the slower growth of twins reflects pathologic growth restriction, which contributes to this higher rate of fetal death, and, as such, the high rate of SGA diagnoses using singleton charts is justified by the goal of reducing fetal death risk.
