2022, Aquatic ToxicologyCitation Excerpt :The time-specific expression pattern can be considered a compensation mechanism to restore cell homeostasis under long-term low pH stress. PY-695805.1 was neither constitutively expressed in embryos/larvae at all developmental stages and in all healthy tissues nor inductively expressed in mantles under acidic stress, indicating that it may be a processed pseudogene (with no intron) and was generally generated mostly by the retro-transposition of mRNA (Jacq et al., 1977). Alternatively, PY-695805.1 could be inductively expressed in other tissues or with other environmental stimuli.
