2022, Heart Failure ClinicsCitation Excerpt :Clinical reports on associations of PPK, WH, and cardiomyopathy followed from several other areas of the world.13,14 A report by Hamill and colleagues in 1988, on a fatal cardiomyopathy with severe ventricular arrhythmias, alopecia, and PPK in 3 unrelated young toddlers by the age of 18 months, marked the potentially aggressive cardiac phenotype when accompanied by such ectodermal abnormalities.15,16 Mutations in JUP associating AC with WH or alopecia and PPK or skin fragility have been reported in Turkey, Argentina, and Canada.17,18
