The unique function of p130Cas in regulating the bone metabolism
2022, Pharmacology and TherapeuticsCitation Excerpt :This phosphorylation induces cytoskeletal reconstruction, such as cell spreading and migration, and further controls the cell proliferation and survival (Almeida et al., 2000; Honda, Nakamoto, Sakai, & Hirai, 1999; Oktay, Wary, Dans, Birge, & Giancotti, 1999). It has been reported that p130Cas is localized at the junction of cell-cell contact in polarized cells (Donaldson et al., 2000), and the C-terminal fragment of p130Cas cleaved by caspase is localized in the nucleus, which is involved in transcriptional regulation (Kim, Kook, Kim, Teodorof, & Song, 2004). p130Cas is also known to act as a mechanosensor that senses and responds to mechanical stress (Janoštiak, Pataki, et al., 2014; Matsui et al., 2012; Sawada et al., 2006).

2013, Cellular SignallingCitation Excerpt :In particular, the protein nephrocystin (NPHP1) forms protein complexes containing p130Cas, tensin, and PYK2, and triggers phosphorylation of PYK2 and subsequent activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) [166]. This association between the C-terminal domain and the SH3 domain of NPHP1 at cell–cell contacts contributes to the polarisation of epithelial cells required for normal kidney function [167]. NPHP1 loss of function leads to the cystic kidney disease familial juvenile nephronophthisis.
