Evaluation of protein content in the amniotic fluid, fetal ascites, and fluid from the overdistended bladder supported the diagnosis. Bladder outflow obstruction in the second trimester of pregnancy was not associated with raised alphafetoprotein levels in the amniotic fluid and maternal serum.
