In this paper, one of the MC1R mutations (V60R) was incorrectly reported. The DNA sample has turned out to contain the previously described V60L mutation. Under the section head MC1R variants (on the third page of the article) the second sentence beginning ‘Eleven variants…' should say ‘Ten variants predicted non-synonymous amino acid changes …’. Neither the statistical analyses nor the conclusions drawn in the paper are affected by this error.
